Current Lab Activity:
Kyle is currently developing a method to optimize part deformations and residual stress in metallic parts fabricated using Directed Energy Deposition (DED) through thermal control of the part during deposition. Previous research topics have included numerical modelling of the cutting process to assess the viability and expected surface quality of finish milling hardened cast iron using Cubic Bornonitride (CBN) inserts.

Current Lab Activity:
Weijun is currently researching into the development of directed energy deposition process strategy to achieve sufficient clad geometry. The method for manufacturing a complex structure part is being developed.

VIVIAN ZHOU

Master Student

Mechatronics, Robotics and Control Systems, Systems Integration, and Mechanical Design and Manufacturing

Current Lab Activity:
Vivian is currently working on developing a control system that will aid in directed energy deposition (DED) additive manufacturing process by utilizing computer vision technology to process errors in the deposition process and respectively change the powder flow rate through communications with a dynamic powder feeder system.
